So What is Health?

First, you must define that of which you are trying to attain. The core definition of health is optimal function of every organ and tissue in the body. It is not merely the absence of symptoms. Symptoms are your body’s way of telling you that there is something wrong and in some cases, symptoms don’t even show up until disease has overtaken the body. The good news is that the human body is amazing. We were not designed to build disease. There is not a disease system in the body, but an immune system. We were designed to heal! Isn’t that great. Most of the time our health and the level at which we can attain is in our hands.

So How Do We Attain It?

Function is key! Health is 100% function, so we must find out what causes you to function at an optimal level. Your body needs certain elements to survive. Nutrition and fitness play a key role in your health whether you are planning on keeping it or getting it back, but it does not cause you to function. You could put the best supplements and food into your body and train your body as much as possible but if you are not functioning then none of that matters. The point is that function comes from the inside, not the outside. To understand function you simply look at your anatomy. Your Central Nervous System (Brain and Spinal Cord) is what drives every process in your body. It tells your heart to beat and your lungs to breathe. It organizes almost every process that the human body performs. This is what is in charge of all of your systems from your cardiovascular system to your immune system. It would be easy to understand that if you interfere with the messages from the brain to the body, then the resulting organ, tissue, or system that the message was going to would not work at 100% or it’s optimum. Thus, interference with our Nerve System results in less than optimal health.

The Body was Designed to be Healthy

The only thing it knows is to heal. If we are not healthy then the question that needs to be asked is “why isn’t the body healing?” As long as we are functioning at 100% and we are supplying the body with what it needs then we can be in a state of health. To attain or regain health we must focus on doing 3 things. We call them the 3 Re’s. Remove, Restore, and Replenish.

Remove any interference to the proper function in the body. First and foremost you look at the Nerve System to see where there is interference. Subluxation, or damage to the nerve from a misaligned bone in your spine, is the first thing that needs to be addressed. Next, you look at anything that may interfere with how your body is healing. What foods or toxicity are we adding to our body that interferes or causes damage. Harmful chemicals that we may breathe or come into contact with and or anything we may ingest such as processed foods, additives, preservatives, and sugar. Remove the interference so that we may have the ability to function at our optimum.
Restore the function. Specific Chiropractic adjustments and Corrective Care is vital in maintaining a healthy Nerve System. The longer a subluxation is left uncorrected, the longer disease has to establish itself in the body. Exercise is also very important to help restore oxygenation to our cells and to improve our metabolic and endocrine systems within our body.
After you REmove the interference and REstore the function, the next step is to Replenish the body with what it needs to heal. This cannot be done without doing the first two RE’s. A good analogy would be having a dysfunctional bucket. If you had a bucket with a hole in it, then it would not make any sense to keep dumping everything into it without fixing the hole first. It doesn’t matter what you put into it, you still have a dysfunctional bucket. Replenish the body with good nutrients from foods we were designed to eat. God made foods that are not tampered with by man with preservatives and additives. Nutrients that may be lacking from the food may be attained by way of supplementation. Continued Exercise routine is again vital to Replenishing your body.
