ARTHRITIS & DEGENERATION · WEST OMAHA
Stiff joints, recurring neck or back pain, or an X-ray that mentions degeneration? At Life Source Chiropractic, Dr. Jason Wiese evaluates what is limiting your movement and helps you understand your care options. For spinal arthritis and associated disc concerns, our Paragon Method may combine chiropractic care, spinal decompression, corrective exercise, and other services selected for your findings. For other joints, we may consider SoftWave therapy as an additional option. What does degeneration mean?
Osteoarthritis is a degenerative joint condition involving changes in cartilage and other joint tissues. In the spine, arthritis can affect the small facet joints; discs may also lose height and change with time. These findings are sometimes called spondylosis or degenerative disc changes.
Degeneration on an image does not tell the whole story. Your symptoms, movement, strength, and nerve examination help us decide what needs attention. Our goal is to reduce discomfort and improve function—not promise to reverse arthritis or regrow cartilage.
Find the right next step
When degeneration is associated with neck or back symptoms, we look beyond the image to understand joint movement, muscle tension, disc concerns, nerve findings, and the activities that are difficult for you. The Paragon Method at Life Source Chiropractic brings together care selected for those findings.
Chiropractic care for movement and comfort
Chiropractic care may include adjustments or gentler mobilization to address restricted spinal movement and associated mechanical pain. The technique and amount of force depend on your examination, bone health, and medical history. It is one part of a plan that can also include exercise and practical guidance.
Spinal decompression for selected disc-related concerns
Spinal decompression uses guided traction and may be considered when your examination points to an appropriate disc-related problem, sometimes with pain traveling into an arm or leg. We consider your symptoms, examination, and imaging when available to decide whether decompression fits your care plan. Evidence and suitability vary by condition, and we explain expected benefits, alternatives, and reasons it may not fit.
Strength, control, and support
Your Paragon plan may also include corrective exercises and rehabilitation to support strength and daily movement, plus spinal molding when appropriate. We build the plan around your goals, reassess your response, and adjust care as you progress. Not every patient needs every service.
Arthritis in other joints: where SoftWave may fit
Knee, hip, shoulder, and other joint pain can involve arthritis, surrounding tendons, or more than one source. We assess the involved area before recommending treatment.
SoftWave therapy in Omaha is a noninvasive acoustic-wave treatment we may discuss for selected joint or surrounding soft-tissue symptoms. The aim is to help manage pain and support function alongside movement and strengthening.
We explain whether it fits your findings and whether it could help your specific treatment.
How your evaluation works
- Tell us what has changed. We discuss pain, stiffness, previous diagnoses, imaging, medications, and your daily goals.
- Assess movement and function. We examine the involved joints and spine, strength, and nerve function when relevant. Additional imaging or a referral is considered when it would change care.
- Choose a plan together. We explain the likely contributors, appropriate options, and what progress will look like.
Daily steps that support arthritic joints
Appropriate movement and strengthening are central to managing osteoarthritis. A gradual exercise plan can help maintain function. Balance activity with recovery and discuss weight management when relevant to weight-bearing joints. We help you choose practical steps that fit your abilities and coordinate with your medical team when needed.
When medical evaluation comes first
Rheumatoid arthritis, gout, and other inflammatory conditions need appropriate medical diagnosis and treatment. A hot, red, swollen joint, fever, or sudden inability to bear weight needs prompt assessment. New bowel or bladder changes, saddle numbness, or progressive limb weakness require urgent medical care.
Questions about arthritis care in Omaha
Can chiropractic care reverse degeneration?
We cannot reverse existing degeneration. Our focus is to improve joint mobility, encourage comfortable motion, and address alignment and movement findings when appropriate. Combined with strengthening and regular activity, care may help reduce stiffness and maintain everyday function. These are meaningful goals even when arthritic changes remain; Our goal is to re-establish proper alignment and motion to slow the underlying structural degeneration.
Is spinal decompression right for spinal arthritis?
Spinal decompression may be part of your Paragon Method plan when spinal degeneration is accompanied by appropriate disc-related symptoms. Dr. Wiese considers your symptoms, examination, health history, and imaging when available to determine whether decompression is a good fit for your care.
Can SoftWave help joint pain?
It may be an additional option for selected joint or surrounding soft-tissue symptoms. We assess the cause first, explain the developing evidence for osteoarthritis, and combine it with appropriate movement and medical care when needed.
Do I need every part of the Paragon Method?
No. Your plan draws from chiropractic care, decompression, corrective exercise, spinal molding, and other options only when they fit your findings and goals.
