EAR INFECTIONS • FAMILY CARE IN OMAHA
Help your family understand ear pain and find the right next step.
Ear infections can be painful for people of all ages. They can interrupt sleep and affect hearing and balance—concerns that are especially important for young children learning to communicate.
At Life Source Chiropractic, we enjoy caring for the whole family. Dr. Jason Wiese takes time to listen, explain your options and discuss how chiropractic care for a separate neck or jaw-related concern may fit alongside your family’s medical care.
What are ear infections?
The ear has an outer, middle and inner portion. A middle ear infection develops behind the eardrum. Fluid can also remain there without active infection. Swimmer’s ear affects the outer ear canal and needs a different evaluation.
Common causes in children
Middle ear infections often follow a cold or respiratory illness. Children’s smaller, more horizontal eustachian tubes can make fluid drainage harder. Their developing immune systems also make infections more common.
Common causes in adults
Adults can develop middle ear infections too. Moisture in the outer ear canal can contribute to swimmer’s ear. The location and cause of the problem determine which treatment is appropriate.
Find the right next step
When ear infections keep coming back, you want clear answers and a thoughtful plan for your family.
Talk with Dr. Jason Wiese about your concerns, your questions about chiropractic care, and how we can work as a part of your health team as you explore the next step.
